Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Dysfunction

Pain, uneven bite, headache, difficulty eating and clicking or popping of the jaw are common symptoms of temporomandibular (TMJ) problems.

At Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, skilled therapists work in coordination with oral surgeons, dentists and physicians to promote optimal care for this condition.

We offer a number of services, including:

  • Individualized self-help recommendation and exercise instruction
  • Joint and soft tissue mobilization to restore jaw mobility
  • Posture education for proper cervical position and jaw relaxation
  • Therapeutic modalities, such as ultrasound and iontophoresis, to decrease pain and inflammation as well as improve jaw movement

TMJ Dysfunction services are available at the Elmbrook Medical Arts Center, Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - Wauwatosa and All Saints locations.
