Neonatal Intensive Care Units

Neonatal Intensive Care Units are level III departments offering the highest-level care for critically ill babies, premature newborns or infants requiring close observation.

Neonatologists and maternal-fetal medicine specialists, and special neonatal intensive care nurses, provide these babies with special care and attention. In addition, care teams which may include pediatric occupational, physical and swallowing/feeding therapists, nutritionists, spiritual management and other special care providers may be part of the ongoing team addressing babies’ unique needs
